Themed caches are caches that have an unusual requirement or suggestion such as the "Ladies First" cache in Ottawa, which required the first 50 finders to either be a girl or be dressed like one.

Individual caches
- I Lost My Marbles (Menlo Park, CA) requests loggers to trade a marble for a marble.
- Ladies First (Ottawa, Ontario) requires the first 50 loggers to be women, or to post a photo of themselves dressed as women.
- Ladies First, please... (Clinton, OK) requires the first 30 loggers to be women, or to post a photo of themselves dressed as women.
- Pizza: NOT on the Menu (Belmont, CA) requires all loggers to describe a kind of pizza that is not normally on the menu.
- The Purple Heart (Palo Alto, CA) requests loggers to tell a story of a geocaching-related injury.
- Roses are Red … (Cumming, GA) requires all loggers to post their online logs in verse.
- Teamwork (Richmond, VA) requires all loggers to find the cache with another geocacher (and spouses and children do not count).
- The 12 Days of Christmas All Year (Redwood City, CA) requests loggers to trade Christmas-related items.
Series of caches
- 101 TFTs series requires all loggers to collect and photograph specific combinations of the owner's signature tokens:
- 101 TFTs - No Pair (Santa Clara, CA)
- 101 TFTs - One Pair (San Jose, CA)
- 101 TFTs - Two Pair (Mountain View, CA)
- 101 TFTs - Three of a kind (Sunnyvale, CA)
- TNLN, I Don't Think So series requires all loggers to exchange items meeting certain criteria:
- TNLN, I Don't Think So #1 (Dublin, CA) requires all loggers to exchange the US coin in the cache for a US coin that is dated either 1 year earlier or 1 year later.
- TNLN, I Don't Think So - 1960's (Pleasanton, CA) requires all loggers to exchange the US coin in the cache for one dated in the 1960s that is a different denomination.
- MA - TNLN - I don't think so! #1 (Chicopee, MA) requires all loggers to exchange the US coin in the cache for a US coin that is dated either 1 year earlier or 1 year later.
- MA - TNLN - I don't think so! #2 (Northampton, MA) requires all loggers to exchange the TY Beanie Baby in the cache for another TY Beanie Baby, and to photograph the one they left.
- MA - TNLN - I don't think so! #3 (Chicopee, MA) requires all loggers to exchange the baseball card in the cache for another baseball card.
