Signature items are personalized items made by or for a geocacher who leaves one in caches that he or she finds. Some geocachers leave a signature item in every cache they find (except those too small for the signature item). Others leave a signature item in only some caches (e.g., milestone caches or particularly enjoyable caches).
Common signature items include:
- wooden nickels
- poker chips
- smashed pennies
- buttons
- business cards
- imprinted golf pencils
- geocoins (trackable and untrackable)
- tokens made from polymer clay (e.g., Fimo, Premo, Sculpey)
- tokens made from shrinkable plastic (e.g., Shrinky Dinks)
- coupons to local businesses
- custom stamps or stickers that are used to mark the logbook
